Turkey Vulture, Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Area Rim, Arizona

This photo is available as:
- a Stock Image

The Turkey Vulture is a very large migratory bird common throughout North America during the warmer months. They are distinguished from black vultures because this species has a red head, like a turkey.

I had hiked to Sycamore Rim Vista on the edge of the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Area on the Kaibab National Forest in northern Arizona. This bird delighted me by swooping back and forth repeatedly along the canyon's rim in the evening sunlight.

Photo location: Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Area, Coconino County, Arizona.
