![]() Maple Colors, Morning, Fort St. Clair, OhioIt was a classic late October morning in Fort St. Clair park outside of Eaton, Ohio. This little gem of a place has been a favorite haunt of mine for many years now. So beautiful and peaceful. On this particular morning, the sugar maples had finally turned to their peak autumn colors. Better yet, the morning was sunny and still. Perfect. I all but had the place to myself. Parks are great for photographing trees for two reasons. One is that many trees are standing alone, or nearly so. This allows walking around it to admire it from every angle, to photograph certain aspects of it in the best light at the time. The other is that, of course, it's public land and walking all over the place is permitted. In this image, I was seeking to portray the brilliant golden crown of the sugar maple as glowing with an inner light, courtesy of the morning sun.
