The morning after a recent snow storm the skies were clearing, and I was on my way to Flagstaff. Or supposed to be.
At this scene, I put on the brakes and pulled off to the side of the road as well as I could. The shoulder was not yet plowed, but with little traffic it didn’t matter. The rising sun had pierced through the clouds and lit up these heavily snow laden pine trees out in the open.
With the Ponderosa pines so heavily laden with heavy new snow, the sunlight raking low across the scene from the east, the retreating storm clouds behind, and clear blue sky above, it was definitely a hit-the-brakes moment.
Photo location: Coconino County, between Flagstaff and Williams, Arizona.
