Tupelo Leaf Closeup,
Hocking Hills, Ohio
This photograph of a fallen tupelo tree (Nyssa aquatica) leaf backlit by the morning sunlight was made near Ash Cave Lookout Tower in the Hocking Hills region of southeast Ohio.
Contrary to what you might think, I did not arrange this leaf for the photo. It was photographed as it lay, recently fallen into some grasses. I prefer to photograph things as I find them, because it makes the experience a treasure hunt rather than an exercise in design.
