Deer Bed in Frosty Meadow Grasses

On a frosty late November morning, the rising sun highlights the tops of some of the still-green meadow grasses. Frost has formed here and there. The pink blossoms of sweet clover add a touch of added color to the grasses, but they will soon turn brown with the freezing weather.

A curved, oblong indentation in the grasses shows where a deer has lain during the night. Which end was its head at?

Photo location: Montgomery County, near Trotwood, Ohio.
