Wandering down to the lower portion of Fort St. Clair park in autumn, I was captivated by the reflection of the fall foliage colors on the surface of tiny, peaceful Garrison Branch creek.
This image perplexes people. When I show them a loose print, they try to turn it sideways. It is a crazy juxtaposition of two worlds: the rocks and stream below, mirroring the glowing colors of the trees and sky above. The dark shadows of the tree trunks and branches add to the feeling of wonderful, almost dizzying confusion. It's like a painting gone wild, or a composite photograph.
But it's truly one photo. This is as it was made. I don't make composite photos for an image like this. I just wander and watch and explore. Nature is my treasure chest, and I'm just joyfully hunting around.
