Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies,
"Mud Puddle Party"
These tiger swallowtail butterflies were photographed in the midst of what is called a "mud puddle party". The butterflies are attracted to mud puddles at times, even one that is almost dried up, such as this one. They become unusually approachable, intent upon feeding whatever it is they are lapping up from the mud.
