Surf at Dusk, Nantucket South Shore, Nantucket Island, Massachusetts
On a clear evening on the south shore of Nantucket Island, the scene deepens after sunset to the serene pearly light of dusk. The powerful surf of the North Atlantic Ocean pounds, shapes, and massages the beach. I am alone, wondrous, walking the beach. It's getting cold with the advancing night, but I am warm inside my light coat, alive with the scenery, the wildness of the blue cold ocean on the sandy shore of this little island off the coast of Cape Cod.
