Dawn, Old North Wharf from Easy Street, Nantucket
Early morning on the Nantucket harbor front. Calm, very calm. A July dawn, warm and serene. Few people or cars about yet. My time.
Down on Easy Street (love that name), the little boats are barely swaying on the mirror water near North Wharf. It won't be long before the town really wakes up, gets moving, the normal noise of people driving, workers working (especially groundskeepers, landscapers, house painters...it's summer, after all). Meanwhile the vacationers enjoy a lazy breakfast, linger over coffee. And, I'm sure, quite a few business people with the means to work from their summer vacation homes, cottages, rental houses, whatever. Working their cell phone, their laptop computer. Keeping things going.
Me, I walk the beaches, streets, marshes, moors, sand roads, chasing the light. Seeing what nature wants me to see next. This time.
