New Presque Isle Lighthouse, Lake Huron, Michigan

New Presque Isle Light is the tallest lighthouse on the Great Lakes, and is she ever a beauty. A gleaming white and dark gray tower that rises over 100 feet tall, it is located on the Lake Huron shore of the upper Lower Peninsula, between Alpena and Rogers City, Michigan.

"Presque Isle" itself is actually a peninsula, not an island. As for the lighthouse and attached structure, the beacon itself is maintained by the United States Coast Guard, while the facility is owned and maintained by a dedicated local historical society.

Photo location: Presque Isle County, Michigan Lower Peninsula.
