On a brilliant, warm July evening I wandered along the farm lane. As always, when looking east the huge cottonwood tree stood sentinal near the edge of the hay meadow. The formations of cumulus clouds had thinned quickly as sunset neared. Typical of low humidity weather. I always wish for the clouds to stay until past sunset, to serve as reflectors of the recently disappeared sun. But as usual, on this evening they all but evaporated.
Cleared enough to see the almost full moon, so it was a pretty good tradeoff.
What caught my eye in this photo was the circular motion implied by the dark cottonwood tree foliage and the clouds above and to the left of it. The bright sky above the horizon sets off both the distant clouds as well as the far tree lines.
