Above Upper Falls, Old Man's Cave
Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio
This photograph was made while looking almost straight down onto a section of Old Man's Creek just upstream of the little stone bridge crossing above Upper Falls in the Old Man's Cave unit of Hocking Hills State Park. The water is rushing down a short stretch of rocky rapids just before it goes under the bridge and over the falls.
The soft but brilliant skylight accentuated the sheen of the surfaces of the water and the wet rock. The more imaginative among us can pick out a number of 'faces' in various parts of the photograph, especially when viewing an enlarged print made from the master image or negative.
This image was scanned and optimized for Web presentation from a 4x5 inch negative made in 1995.
