On a cold, calm late winter day, I took advantage of a new light snowfall overnight to return to Hocking Hills State Park. It was midweek, so the weekend crowds would be absent. Add to that the fact that it was early morning, and I could have a couple of precious hours to myself.
I went to Ash Cave first, as is my custom these days. Why? Because it's the most accessible, and so would probably be visited the earliest.
I was right. No cars in the parking lot, nobody around. Perfect.
The snowfall had been preceded by a good rain, so the creek was flowing pretty well. It's a tiny stream, and so any storm event gets cleared out quickly. If you want to see the waterfall going well, you have to be there before it dries up.
In this photo, the snowfall had been so light that it doesn't even show. The overhanging cliff of the cave has caught what snow there was.
