Northern Arizona Sunset Panorama, Coconino National Forest

It was a June evening in Flagstaff, Arizona, and finally the clouds were looking good.

After a very heavy winter snowfall wise, the spring of 2010 had been dry, windy, and all too absent of moisture. Forest fires were breaking out around Flagstaff, seemingly right after the waist-deep snow had melted.

Then, on a Friday, the cumulus clouds had formed. We had some moisture from the Pacific Ocean for the lovely northern Arizona summer heat to turn into overhead artwork of white and blue.

So I drove out into the forest to observe and enjoy. I went to a favorite spot, one that is both easy to get to but hard to find. Nobody there, as usual. Secluded serenity. Kick back and enjoy another Friday night in the forest.

The clouds had been dissipating, to my chagrin. Hang on, guys! To the north, they did. Sunset lit them up for me, and I shot an overlapping series to make a high resolution panoramic image.
