Sunset Crater, the centerpiece of Sunset Crater National Monument north of Flagstaff in northern Arizona, is a mere 1,000 years old. In geological terms that's probably like a baby not even out of the nursery ward.
This winter scene, taken outside the Monument from Bonito Park on the Coconino National Forest, was a gorgeous late winter day after a snowstorm was clearing off. Huge cumulus clouds were hanging around in a blue sky, accenting the various mountains.
Photo location: Bonito Park, Coconino National Forest, just outside Sunset Crater National Monument, Arizona.
