A calm winter morning's walk along a road in the Kaibab National Forest in northern Arizona brought me to make this photograph.
The snowfall had been heavy that week, the third highest on record. After each storm, the skies would begin to clear, and I would venture out to enjoy the results. It's important to photograph the trees before much of the snow drops off their boughs, which it often does by late morning. This stately Ponderosa pine tree was one of my favorites of the shoot.
Photo location: Kaibab National Forest, Pittman Valley, Coconino County, Arizona.
