A calm, chilly September evening in the Pittman Valley on the Coconino Plateau of northern Arizona, and I'm out waiting for moonrise and sunset photos. It's the night before the official Full Moon, which is often the best night of the month to include the rising moon in landscape photos at dusk.
The sun is down, the clear eastern horizon turned to a gradient of colors ranging from blue to red to pink. Finally the full moon (well, almost full) rises above the ponderosa pine forests of the Kaibab National Forest near Williams, Arizona, with the dark blue silhouette of the distant San Francisco Peaks at far left.
My work for this exquisite early autumn evening is done. The outdoors work, I mean.
